(Smart)phones and social media have changed communication in our modern world. There are numerous apps and ways to communicate through the World Wide Web. Because of this, our habits and behaviours have also changed. But how does this affect us on an individual level? And what effect does it have on our mental health?

In this interactive programme, we cover the history of phones and elaborate on the uses and misuses of smartphones. 

We discuss common (smart)phone usage habits and the effects it can have on individuals, such as:

• Lack of sleep
• Lack of focus
• (Traffic) accidents
• Anxieties and insecurities
• Cyberbullying

We then elaborate on cyberbullying and how this relates to our mental health. Through a creative, interactive performance, the presenter will visualise possible reactions to cyberbullying. We then open the floor for an open discussion.

As part of the class assignment, we discuss (smart)phone fun facts. The students then separate into small groups and record a short video on the uses and misuses of (smart)phones and social media.
